I’d like to climb up onto my soapbox for a minute and talk about the seriously fucked up phrase “strong is the new skinny”. Since when did skinny become synonymous with weak? Why must we tear down one group of individuals to make ourselves feel better? Skinny people can be strong (and if you don’t believe me I’d like to personally challenge you to a push-up contest 😜), skinny people can be weak. Fat people can be strong, fat people can be weak. Muscly people can also lack strength… Occasionally people with puffy muscles from diet/water manipulation and BB splits programming have zero body awareness and haven’t the first clue how to truly recruit their muscles for anything other than pulling a cable or curling a dumbbell. A lot of those people are super strong badasses too. Keyword–occasionally. So can we please put that phrase to rest? And really, it doesn’t fucking matter if you’re strong or fat or skinny or weak. Are you a nice person or an asshole? That’s what matters.
